A Little Story About Our Daily Bread

Today’s Consuming Fire Meditation- – A Daily Dose of the Flame of Love Diary Served Up with Today’s Scriptures

A Little Story About Our Daily Bread

On one occasion, when Elizabeth needed bread, Jesus did her a special favor. Jesus said, “Leave now. You must get bread for your family.”

When I entered the bakery, I remembered that it …was Saturday and I asked, “Do you still have bread?” They said, “No.” I was scared. What will happen now? When I was about to leave, I heard them call me. They had reserved a bread, but the one for whom they had set it aside did not come to get it. At once, I said, “My adorable Jesus.” He said, “I am that one. Do you see? The time you spend with Me should not harm your family.” (Elizabeth/Jesus) (February 14, 1965)

Today’s Readings: When he became aware of this he said to them, “Why do you conclude that it is because you have no bread? Do you not yet understand or comprehend? Are your hearts hardened? (Mark 8)

Prayer Meditation- O Lord today I wanted to meditate on the little story of Elizabeth and how You made sure her need for bread was met- just like You did for the disciples. Just like You do for us every day! Yet like the disciples we forget even when You multiply our meager resources to feed the five thousand! Lord help us to remember and to not let our hearts harden in fear or anxiety- You have us in the palm of Your Hands and You provide for us if we are faithful! Lord help us remember our own little stories of Your Goodness to us!

Monday of the Sixth Week in Ordinary Time

Seeking Signs

Jesus said, “I will leave you with the feeling of My presence. In the great sufferings that I will pour out on you now, the Flame of Love of Our Mother will give you great strength. She is the one who forces Me not to deprive you of the feeling of My presence. Be also grateful to her for that.” (Jesus) (December 1, 1962)

Today’s Readings: He sighed from the depth of his spirit and said, “Why does this generation seek a sign? Amen, I say to you, no sign will be given to this generation.” (Mark 8)

Prayer Meditation: O Lord how often, just like the Pharisees, do we demand signs and wonders because of our lack of faith and hardness of heart. Lord You do not honor such demands but instead leave us the gift of silence so that we can examine our hearts and come to You with true humility. But Lord, when our hearts are grateful and full of trust- not loving the gifts but loving the Gift Giver in all circumstances You never abandon us and we can look back at how You carry us. In all things we can see Your Mighty Hand in all of it! Thank You Jesus!

Sixth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Blessed Are We

Maternal dignity is at the same time a vocation saturated with sufferings, and that is what I share with you. I thank you, my little one, for your participation that is continual and filled with sacrifices. I, as a loving Mother, can assure you of your heavenly reward.” (Mary) (August 27, 1964)

Today’s Readings: “Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied. Blessed are you who are now weeping, for you will laugh. Blessed are you when people hate you, and when they exclude and insult you, and denounce your name as evil on account of the Son of Man. Rejoice and leap for joy on that day! Behold, your reward will be great in heaven. For their ancestors treated the prophets in the same way. (Luke 6)

Prayer Meditation- Lord, the world would have us believe that we are blessed when we live lives like the ones we might see on TV or the movies. We see only the exterior. But our real lives, Lord are our vocations- especially our duties to our families. These duties are our means to sanctification in this life. So blessed are we and let us rejoice because we belong to You and will live with You forever in Heaven!

Enmity

“Endure these sufferings for your family and those of the whole country. You know that Satan, foaming with rage, wants to destroy families. You are a mother of a family and you are aware of the several forms of family disintegration. (Mary) (Compendium Page 11)

Today’s Readings: I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; He will strike at your head, while you strike at his heel.” (Genesis 3)

Prayer Meditation- Lord, how wounded we all are- infected with the sin of our first parents. Today more than ever the enemy rages against families. The final battle will be against families! (Sister Lucia). We are in the battle now but You have already given us the divine antidote in the protoevangelium of Genesis 3:15. Lord, You are the only cure for what is wrong with ourselves, our families, and our world- come Holy Spirit, come by the means of the power of the Flame of Love (Jesus) of the Immaculate Heart of Mary!

Confessing Our Faults —

Confessing Our Faults

“Many, many times, I experienced the repentance that the Lord’s mercy brought forth in my soul. I want to repent for my sins like no one ever has repented until now.” She would pray, “I want to love You like no converted sinner has ever loved You until now.” (Elizabeth) (Compendium Page 62)

Today’s Readings: Then I acknowledged my sin to you, my guilt I covered not. I said, “I confess my faults to the LORD,” and you took away the guilt of my sin. (Psalm 32)

Prayer Meditation- O Lord You have washed us in Your Blood and You offer Yourself to us every day in Your Word and Your Sacraments. O Blood and Water which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fount of Mercy for us we trust in You! Lord help us not to hold anything back from You today because we owe You our lives- let us return love for the Love You have poured into our hearts!

When God Seem Quiet

Thursday of the Fifth Week of Ordinary Time

When God Seems Quiet

Since I never received an answer from the Lord, I suffered much. (Elizabeth) (August 22, 1963)

Today’s Readings: She replied and said to him, “Lord, even the dogs under the table eat the children’s scraps.” Then he said to her, “For saying this, you may go. The demon has gone out of your daughter.” When the woman went home, she found the child lying in bed and the demon gone. (Mark 7)

Today’s Readings: Lord there are times when we feel so desperate, like the woman in the Gospel. We ask, we plead- but we don’t seem to get an answer! Lord this can be so hard- this waiting to hear from You! But like the Canaanite woman when we persist and persevere- when we don’t hold back, when we come boldly to the Throne of Grace refusing to give up until we hear from You this increases our faith and our trust! Lord help us to be bold in our prayers- let us pray with faith and confidence knowing how You reward lively faith and that You will always answer us in Your time for our good!

Wednesday of the Fifth Week of Ordinary Time

Filled with Good Things

For a long time, He allowed me to feel His presence filled with goodness and majesty. As an insignificant person, really less than nothing, I felt great emotion. I could only babble: “Depart from me, O Lord, I am a great sinner.” (Elizabeth) (August 16, 1962)

Today’s Readings: All creatures look to you to give them food in due time. When you give it to them, they gather it; when you open your hand, they are filled with good things .(Psalm 104)

Prayer Meditation- O Lord we thank You and praise You because You always provide for our needs if we trust in You! You fill us with good things- not only for our temporal needs but You give us exactly what our souls need on a daily basis. Lord we are so unworthy of Your many gifts- let us always be filled with a spirit of gratitude and praise because You alone have done great things and Holy is Your Name!

Our Lady of Lourdes

Carried In Her Arms

After this, I was in such a state of mind that I almost did not have strength to walk. I felt that physical strength was no longer needed; only the strength of my soul carried me with the Blessed Virgin to travel the dark paved roads of Bethlehem.(August 31, 1962)

Today’s Readings: As nurslings, you shall be carried in her arms,
and fondled in her lap;
As a mother comforts her child,
so will I comfort you;
in Jerusalem you shall find your comfort. (Isaiah 66)

Prayer Meditation- Today we honor the Blessed Virgin Mary in her title as Our Lady of Lourdes. The Immaculate Conception came down from Heaven to a young girl to teach us, heal us, and restore us! There are times Lord that can be so tough- illness or caring for those who are ill. We can feel so overwhelmed. And yes we want healing but sometimes what we really need first is to be heard and to be held because the road can seem so dark. And yet Lord, Our Blessed Mother traveled many dark roads and she knows what it is like to be totally emptied of strength in the natural and yet Her Strength of Soul because of Her union with You at all times carried Her through. And She wants to carry us through, Her children, and bring us to Your Comfort and Peace which surpasses all understanding! (Philippians 4:7). Our Lady of Lourdes please intercede for us for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing in Jesus Name!

Memorial of Saint Scholastica

A Flash of Light

The look of His eyes is like a flash of lightening which lights up everything. (Elizabeth) (January 14, 1963)

Today’s Readings: Then God said,
“Let there be light,” and there was light.
God saw how good the light was. (Genesis 1)

Prayer Meditation- O Lord You are Light itself- the Universe was created and Your Light appeared. O Lord, though we see as in a glass darkly now (1 Corinthians 13) we will someday see the Light in Your Eyes- those Eyes that see everything about us and that love us so much! Lord illuminate our hearts, minds, and souls to see You with the eyes of love here on this Earth so that we can live in Your Light always! For we are children of the light and children of the day- Your Children now, and what we will be we do not know but we will be like You and see You as You are! (1 Thessalonians 5/1 John 3:2). Lord God we hope in You and trust in You, our Father forever who brings us out of darkness into Your Marvelous Light! (1 Peter 2:9) chosen and loved by You for all eternity!

Depart From Me-Qualifying The Called

Fifth Sunday in Ordinary Time

Depart from Me- Qualifying the Called

For a long time, He allowed me to feel His presence filled with goodness and majesty. As an insignificant person, really less than nothing, I felt great emotion. I could only babble: “Depart from me, O Lord, I am a great sinner.” (Elizabeth) (August 16, 1962)

Today’s Readings: When Simon Peter saw this, he fell at the knees of Jesus and said, “Depart from me, Lord, for I am a sinful man.” For astonishment at the catch of fish they had made seized him and all those with him, who were partners of Simon. (Luke 5)

Prayer Meditation- Lord, You know we are not worthy! You do not choose the best. When we are overwhelmed by Your Grace- sometimes we just want to run because we see how insignificant and sinful we really are! But Lord- You do not call the qualified, You qualify the called! Help all of us today to know and understand our call and vocation- realizing that we can do nothing without Your Grace! Fill us with Your Grace in Your Word, through prayer, and in the Sacraments! Without You we can do nothing! (John 15:5)
