Daily Devotional Based on the Spiritual Classic, He and I
But it rests Me to talk to you, to a put a little of My heart into yours, My child… So say to Me often, “Your little servant is listening”. (Jesus, August 27, 1942).
9 Therefore Eli said to Samuel, “Go, lie down; and if he calls you, you shall say, ‘Speak, Lord, for thy servant hears.’” So Samuel went and lay down in his place.
10 And the Lord came and stood forth, calling as at other times, “Samuel! Samuel!” And Samuel said, “Speak, for thy servant hears.” (1 Samuel 3:9-10).
27 My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me; (John 10:27).
“Be still, and know that I am God.
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth!” (Psalm 46:10).
Prayer Reflection- O Lord, we so often want to talk to You, or really sometimes pray and talk at You, but are we really listening to You? Because You really want to share Your Sacred Heart with us and to pour Yourself into us. You long to bring us joy, peace, love- all of the fruits of the Spirit. O Lord, we think that we have to be mystics to “hear” from You, but really You speak to all of us every day- sometimes words of knowledge in our spirit, but always through nature, through circumstances, through others, through Your Word. You are always communicating but again, are we listening? So let us come to You as little children, trusting that You, the Word, will never tire of giving us just what we need in the present moment.
